GE HealthCare

Using wireless technology, GE HealthCare Portrait Mobile has reshaped how vital signs are monitored in hospitals, allowing patients to move and walk around while being monitored. We partnered with GE HealthCare’s international teams to design the accompanying Central Station—a multi-patient monitoring system that alerts providers when a patient’s vital signs are unsafe. The project brought together hardware and software in a highly-regulated, safety-critical environment. Our collaboration spanned clinical staff, senior software architects, regulatory experts, and mobile UX designers to deliver a FDA-approved system that meets the real needs of nurses working to ensure the safety and recovery of their patients.
